Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union president Martin Zibwi believes with the home crowd rallying behind the local tertiary games team, Zimbabwe will come out tops.

The 18^th edition of Confederation of Universities and Colleges Association Games slated for Bulawayo starting on August 1 and nine other countries from the SADC region will compete at Bulawayo Polytechnic and Hillside Teachers College.

“Last time we came third in Zambia and this year I hope we will take advantage of the home support and win the tournament. Coaches of different sport codes engaged coaches from professional leagues to assist them with preparations.

“Bulawayo City coach, Philani Ncube agreed to assist coaches for both football teams”, added Zibwi.

The team is composed of athletes from universities, poly-technics and teacher’s colleges across the country.

Sport codes at the tournament include football, volleyball, basketball, netball, table tennis, tennis, chess, karate, and athletics.
