Exide Win ZITF Ingwebu Tug Of War National Championships
EXIDE are this year’s men winners of this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Ingwebu Tug of War National Championships after a 2-0 victory over former champions Mutare Board and Paper Mills on Saturday.
After seeing off Africa club champions FBC 2-1 at the semifinal stage, Exide made light work of Mutare Board and Paper Mills in the final with the contest lasting just a few minutes. A lot was expected from Mutare Board and Paper Mills, a team which used to dominate the sport but they could hold their own against a supercharged Exide. FBC took third place with a 2-0 win over Correctional Lions.
Exide walked away with $500, a trophy together with gold medals, $300 and silver medals went the way of Mutare Board and Paper Mills. FBC got $200 and bronze medals for being the third best male team.
In the women, Glow Petroleum were the winners, seeing off Davis Granite 2-0 in the final. Glow went home with $500 which was accompanied by gold medals. Davis Granite picked up $300 and silver medals.
Mutare City were 2-1 victorious over Bulawayo City Council in the third place playoff, an effort which earned the team from Manicaland $200 and bronze medals.
Ingwebu Breweries marketing, research and development manager Sindani Khumal presented the teams with their prizes.
