Zimbabwe Bowls Seek Dominance
Zimbabwe are aiming to maintain dominance when they travel to South Africa for the regional quadrangular bowls tournament.
Hosts South Africa, Namibia and South Africa Junior are the other sides taking part
The first quadrangular series held in Namibia in 2014, was won by Zimbabwean men’s team.
Zimbabwe will be represented by 10 athletes.
Bowls Association of Zimbabwe president, Malcom Evans believes the chances look bright for local athletes who will participate at this year’s Quadrangular tournament from July 28 -30 at Edenvale Bowling Club, Johannesburg.
However, Evans says the sport has not drawn lot of interest due to lack of funding.
“That you have to self-sponsor yourself is why there is little interest in the sport for many people. Even after winning a tournament, you just get a medal with no monetary rewards,” said Evans.
