Swanson Yard Finish Season On A High

KIRK Swanson Racing yard ended the 2016/17 racing season on a high note with four winners at Borrowdale Park during Saturday afternoon’s Commissioner General Cheer Fund.

The stable had fourth winner, Light The Way who came in the 1600m Pinnacle Plate winning the last race of the day as the racing season takes a break until September.

The son of Miesque's Approval (USA) finished half a length ahead of David's Flower, Roman Discent and Lava Flow in the race that had several contestants.

Apprentice Mpumelelo Mjoka was on the irons and Light The Way owned by Colin Bird winning the other race in his second race at Borrowdale.

The five-year-old gelding's second start at Borrowdale.

The Swanson stable will have an Open Day on Saturday, July 29, to celebrate racing and things to come.

Flanders, trained by Bridget Stidolph, won the 1450m Champagne Stakes at the same course, finishing 0.05 lengths in front of stable companion Butchie Boy.

The Gimmethegreenlight (AUS) juvenile managed to win all his four starts in Zimbabwe, and his victory probably would have ensured Bridget Stidolph as Zimbabwe’s Champion season trainer.

Flanders is owned by Newbury Racing (Pty) Ltd, and regular jockey, Fanie Chambers was on the irons.

He was bred by Zandvleit Stud.
