New Leadership For Hockey Association Of Zimbabwe

GRANT Campbell is the new president of Hockey Association of Zimbabwe after being elected unopposed over the weekend at the association’s elective general meeting.

Campbell takes over from Humphrey Chigwedere, who has been at the helm of the association since last year.

The other members are secretary Sarah Bennett, treasurer Gavin Stephens while the executive committee members are Virginia Ross, Maxwell Makuvise, Prince Mwale and Kalpesh Parshotam.

They will be in charge of hockey for the next two years.

The new leadership is expected to meet on Thursday for their first meeting to discuss various issues including coming up with the possible candidate to fill in the post of vice-president.

There was no nomination for the post which has been vacant since Chigwedere, who was voted vice-president in 2014 took over as president when Mark Manolios resigned in 2015.

Campbell said they need to come up with possible names on Thursday for the post.

“That’s why we are convening a meeting on Thursday evening, so that we can get some names together of people who we can approach and ask to co-opt onto the board as vice-president because we have to fill it that is part of our mandate. We need a vice president.

“So at the meeting that I was an observer on Saturday there was no nomination. So I am calling a meeting on Thursday so that we can resolve that issue and have a candidate and get someone as vice president,” said Campbell.

The hockey association also held their awards on Sunday at Arundel School.
