New Drag Race Surface Sees Better Times At Donnybrook
Dragpro Club secretary Susan Zevgolis says the new surface at the Donnybrook Raceway has helped in recording better times and giving better racing conditions for the drivers.
“The new surface also resulted in improved times and less wheel spin for many competitors which is a very positive step forward for us,” Zevgolis said.
More than 2 500 people attended last weekend’s Moto X drag racing where over 60 competitors took to the raceway adding that said the turnout showed that drag racing was attracting huge audiences and was slowly becoming the talk of town.
“To all our partners, thank you once again for your ongoing support and it was great to see so many of you take the time to come out to our event.
“We enjoyed a successful day with over 2 500 people through the gate and 67 registered competitors,” she added.
There were three categories – the motor vehicle contest, motorcycle and secondary driver/rider times contest.
Awards were given to the top three racers in each of the categories.
It was a day of fun, action and tyre burning as racers battled for supremacy in the raceway to the amazement of the crowd which kept on shouting, clamouring for more action.
Spectator and competitor numbers have continued to remain the highest of any motorsport event in the country as drag racing continues to set the standard in Zimbabwe Motorsport.
Drag racing gives drivers of ordinary street cars the opportunity to enjoy the thrills of racing in a safe and controlled environment.
