Hwange 0-1 Mutare City
HWANGE – Hwange fans left the Colliery Stadium dejected and stunned after the coalminers put up a lifeless performances to fall to Castle Lager Premier League new boys Mutare City Rovers on Sunday.
A 24th minute header by Chastern Ngondonga was enough to hand the visitors three precious points in a shock result that left some Hwange fans in tears after the final whistle.
It was certainly an unfortunate weekend for Hwange as one of the club’s legends David “Dididi” Khumalo, had passed away on Saturday.
The hosts were duly punished for being wasteful as Rovers surged ahead with their first attack on the Hwange goal, with Ngondonga being allowed a free header in the box to gracefully connect a curling Wonder Sithole cross into the roof of net.
Highlanders 1-0 ZPC Kariba
BULAWAYO – A first half strike by youngster Adrian Silla gave Highlanders their first Castle Lager Premier Soccer League victory over ZPC Kariba and stretched Bosso's lead on the log by three points.
ZPC Kariba, who were promoted into the Premiership in 2014, had been Highlanders’ bogey side, winning three out of their four meetings and drawing once.
Silla’s 40th minute
Prince Dube’s header was cleared off the line by Lincoln Zvasiya but his drive fell to Silla, whose left volley from inside the box beat goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya and give Highlanders the 40th minute winner.
