Motocross Community Plunged Into Mourning
THE Motocross community in Zimbabwe was plunged into mourning following the tragic passing of Shingi Mukandi on Saturday after a hit and run accident near his home in Harare’s Mt Pleasant.
Mukandi, who was the executive director and head of operations at Freight World, was 33.
Motorsport Federation's Press liaison officer, Temba Mazvimbakupa was saddened by Mukandi’s death whom he described as an upcoming champion.
“It's not easy to hold back emotions especially on an event like this one. We have just lost a young man and a very talented rider who had great potential. He rode with the likes of Phil Archinoul, Lez Carlson and Pereira Angelo. He put us on the map around the world because he enjoyed the game. We will carry on. His death has robed us of a champion in the making. It is my hope that justice will prevail and the perpetrator will be brought to book. Mukandi was not an ordinary rider, he was also a professional.”
Mukandi is survived by his wife Beauty and three minor children Veronica (11), Ben jr (6) and Paida (2).
Mourners are gathered at Number 4 Finbury Close, Mouth Pleasant off Harare Drive. Burial arrangements will be advised.
