Mash Central Dominates Heroes Darts Tourney

Mashonaland West dominated the Heroes Day Tournament played in Gweru with their grandmaster David Nyemba scooping most of the awards.
 
Nyemba broke the record by getting the highest number of scores per game which is 180 points. The country’s best darts player went on to win the closed national pairs, national president’s singles and national closed singles.
 
In the national closed pairs, Nyemba paired with his son Kudzanayi to beat Simon Mujuru and Bekezela Khumalo also of Mashonaland West while Salio Gunda and Caleb Sigauke of Manicaland came third.
 
Nyemba went on to win the national president’s singles beating Peter Mulukula of Mashonaland East while in the national closed singles he saw off the challenge from Mgcini Nkala from Bulawayo.

Mashonaland West won the overall team of the tournament in the men’s category. Harare went on to dominate in the individual female contests with Christabel Marumba and Svodai Nyika getting medals. Marumba came first in the national president’s singles followed by Winster Mutinhiri of Mashonaland Central while Nyika came third. Marumba partnered Fungai Garakata to win the national closed pairs with Sibaboni Manwiri and Joice Mloyi of Midlands coming second. Pindile Ndlovu and Tabeth Zhoya of Midlands coming third.
 
Nyika and Grace Mawodza won the national open doubles with Mutinhiri and Mercy Manaka of Mashonaland Central in second place. Mloyi and Manwiri came third. Midlands won the best team effort in the ladies category.
 
The Zimbabwe Darts Association of Zimbabwe president Meynard Moyo was pleased with the level of competition at the tournament.

“It was a good warm up for the Zone six games in Namibia later this month. Also the upcoming players showed their bravery to challenge the big shots and gave them a good run for their money,” said Moyo.
