Life Goes On: Captain Scara

Bulawayo City Captain Xolisani ‘Scara’ Moyo says the players are not burying their heads in the sand following the suspension of their head coach and assistant but will keep fighting hard to achieve set targets.

Moyo said the suspension of Philani Ncube and Farai Mujokoro did not affect the players but instead spurred them to do well and end the season among the best clubs.

“We are fighters, such things happen in football. We never allowed what happened to get into our heads because as a team we have set targets that we want to achieve at the end of the season. We want to continue garnering points so that we survive relegation,” said Moyo.

“The man in charge at the moment Try Ncube has been part of the technical team so there isn’t much of a difference. The philosophy and approach to business remains unchanged. We have seasoned players in the team like, Mkhokeli Dube, Nyasha Mukumbi, Morris Kadzola and myself, so we are capable of handling pressure.”

Buoyed by their 1-1 draw against Dynamos in Harare last weekend, Moyo believes Bulawayo City can collect maximum points against title aspirants Caps United at Barbourfields on Sunday.

“We are well prepared for this match. It’s a must win for us because we are now in the penultimate stage of the league. We need to keep pace with the leading pack so that we don’t drop into the relegation zone.”

Ncube and Mujokoro were suspended over allegations of trying to bribe Border Strikers goalkeeper Talent Sande ahead of a league mach which Bulawayo City went on to win 1-0.
