Junior Golfers Impress In SA
Top amateur golfers Kieran Vincent and David Amm continue to impress in South Africa golf tournaments recently finishing tied on 12th place after the final round of the Curro SA Juniors International at Durbanville Golf Club in Cape Town, South Africa on Friday.
Amm a home schooled Chapman-based lanky golfer managed to recover on the final day as he spent the opening two rounds positioned in the mid-20s.
He has been in South Africa for the past few weeks where he took part in several tournaments which he impressed in most of them.
The Zimbabwean was tied on position eight after he carded a one-under –par after opening round but had a four-over on the second day which saw him dropping dismally.
Vincent managed a 76, 73 and 73 to finish on four over 220 and tied with fellow countrymen Amm and Cedric Otten of Angola.
Justin Kersten who went into the final round tied on fourth place had a miserable 80 to drop to position 19.
The Bulawayo Golf Club member was the best placed local last year but had an indifferent outing this time around.
Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa and Tadiwanashe Dzuda finished on position 75 as Irvin Nembavare and Tarisiro Fundira were a distant 87 and 88 respectively while Donald Kadzirange was disqualified.
Garrick Higo of South Africa managed to win the event on 12 under 204.
The Sixteen-year-old Higgo from Boland fired a one-under-par 71 to claim the Boys Division title of the Global Junior Golf Tour event on 12-under-par 204.
He finished three shots clear of Slovakia’s Jakub Hrinda, who posted a 68, while Jens Christian Tvergaard from Denmark and Germany’s Constantin Unger shared third on three under 213 after respective rounds of 70 and 71
Zimbabwe has this time sent a total of 11 golfers, made up of nine boys and three girls,
The three girls representing Zimbabwe are Danielle Bekker was the best placed on position 29, Emily Jones tied on 39 while Daniella Banda was on 42 place.
