Highlanders Lose Again As Mutare City Grab Vital Win

Highlanders went for a sixth consecutive match without a win when they lost 1-0 to ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga Stadium in Kariba.

Highlanders had registered three loses and two draws heading into the match and were keen to put an end to the poor run of form against an equally struggling ZPC Kariba.

But it was not to be with Kauya Katuruturu registering their second win on the trot following an eight match winless streak. Prior to last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Chapungu, the power manufacturers had last won against Thsolotsho on June 18.

Ageless striker Limited Chikafa scored the solitary goal with eleven minutes to full time to seal the win for ZPC and pile misery on the Erol Akbay coached Highlanders.

At Sakubva Stadium Mutare City Rovers edged Hwange 2-1. Gilbert Zulu opened the scoring 58 minutes into the game but Kuda Gurure levelled the scores in the 88th minute. There was drama barely a minute after Gurure’s goal as Elisha Makaha scored what turned out to be the winner for Mutare City. Hwange players mobbed the referee Kudakwashe Majo protesting the goal claiming their goalkeeper Future Sibanda was fouled leading to the goal.

At Luveve Howmine and Chapungu played out a 1-1 draw. The visitors went ahead in the 60th minute via a Hillary Mugoniwa penalty and Howmine equalised through Kuda Musharu with a minute to fulltime.
