Gurure Out To Prove A Point Against CAPS United
Inform Mutare City forward Kudakwashe Gurure is out to prove a point against CAPS United when the two sides clash at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday after Makepekepe let him go in 2013.
Gurure captained the CAPS United Under 18 team that had defender Valentine Musarurwa but the Dangamvura born forward was frozen out of the system at a time when he thought he was going to be elevated to the senior team.
Spotted by CAPS United scouts whilst at Mutare Boys High school in 2012, Gurure was part of the juniors who were transferred to Pamushana High school on Makepekepe scholarship together with FC Platinum midfielder Tatenda Dzumbunu.
“We are going to Harare as a team to collect three points to help us survive relegation, but I am also driven by my own personal vendetta against CAPS United. I just want to show them what I am capable of doing after releasing me,” said Gurure.
After being discarded by the Green Machine, Gurure turned out for Gutu FC in the Eastern Region Division 1 league as he was doing his A level at Gutu Mission before joining Mutare City at the start of the season.
The 20 year old striker who has been one of the star performers this season says he is targeting the golden boot after finding the back of the net six times.
“I am targeting the golden boot considering that I am on six goals already and the person on seven goals, Bruce Kangwa is no longer around. I have been pushing myself harder to achieve that. Although I can’t state the exact number of goals I am going to score, I am very much confident that I will end the season as the top goal scorer,” added Gurure.
Mutare City coach Taku Shariwa backed his protégé to win the golden boot at the end of the season.
“When I took over I set him a training regime to follow and I even told him that if you follow this, you can become the top goal scorer. I am glad that he has now scored six goals and I am confident he is going to continue,” said Shariwa.
