Golf David Amm of to Kenya for amateur Golf Champs

This week Zimbabwe has sent a team of four male golfers to represent the country at the African Amateur Golf Teams Championship at Limuru Country Club in Kenya.

Among the four is student David Amm.  Kieren Vincent of St John’s College was also selected as part of the team, but understandably had to withdraw for academic commitments in this examination season.

The eighth edition of the championships involve 16 African teams, and Zimbabwe’s biggest challenge will come from neighbors South Africa, who have won the biannual tournament consistently since its inauguration in 2001.

Zimbabwe is also bidding to host the ninth version of the tournament in 2017.  The tournament involves four rounds of stroke play, with the top three scores for each team counting daily toward the team total.

Despite being the youngest member of the team, Amm has had significant international play in the past two years including representing Zimbabwe in the Toyota Junior World Golf Championships in Japan in June.
