Dangamvura Hotel Hosts National Women Pool Tournament
DANGAMVURA Hotel in Mutare will be a hive of activity this Saturday when the National Women Pool League gets underway.
More than 50 players are expected for this year’s event which kicks off at 11am.
Phiona Musavengana, the National Women Pool League secretary general confirmed that all is set for the tournament.
“We are excited that we are going to host the National Women Pool League ladies tournament in Mutare which is one of the biggest events on our calendar.
“To us this is yet another opportunity to showcase the immense sporting talent that abounds in women. Pool generally is associated with men not knowing that we have a lot of female talented players in pool.
“We just want to urge the people of Mutare and beyond to come support the ladies in pool. You never know this could be the sport that could provide the next gold Olympian,” she said.
Registration closes at 10am and the fee is $7 and while the race to two play format will be employed.
The winner will get $200 with the first runner up going home with $130 while $80 will be given to the third placed player.
Last year the tournament was hosted at Juru growth point with over 40 players taking part and was won by Harare based Tariro Vhondo.
Vhondo turns out for Club Flora which is in the Western Pool League in the capital.
