Cyclone Dineo Disrupts Sporting Activities
EFFECTS of the horrendous Cyclone Dineo which has been hitting parts of Mozambique in recent days are now being felt in local sport.
The Beach Volleyball Under 21 zonal qualifiers which Zimbabwe were due to participate in and which were set for Mozambique have been postponed due to Cyclone Dineo which is wrecking havoc in that country and some parts of Southern Africa.
Zimbabwe’s U21 beach volleyball team will not travel to Maputo for the qualifiers which will soon be rescheduled.
In a Facebook post Zimbabwe Volleyball Association confirmed the latest development regarding the qualifiers which were slated to run over the weekend.
“Zimbabwe U21 beach volleyball regroups as trip to Mozambique is postponed due Cyclone Dineo that has hit Mozambique,” said a statement on a picture that showed the Zimbabwe team having lunch at a local hotel.
“The zonal qualifiers will be rescheduled. Here the team has luncheon before breaking camp,” read the statement.
The Zimbabwe boys’ team comprises of Mooketsi Njamba and Nigel Kaduma while the girls’ couple is Maud Karimandima and Ottilia Gomo.
