
Coventry Bags Double Silver
It was another successful weekend for Zimbabwe’s Olympic bound swimmer Kirsty Coventry as she twice got a podium finish at the Mare Nostrum Tour meet.
Two silver medals where what she collected, first in the women’s 200-metre backstroke on Saturday, before bagging another silver in the 100m backstroke.
Coventry came second in a time of 2:10:97 to five-time world champion Katinka Hosszu in the 200m swim on Saturday, the Hungarian touching the wall in 2:09:58 while Eyglo Osk Gustafsdottir was third in 2:13:80.
On Sunday she finished the 100m swim in 1.00.67, having posted a time of 1:01:71 in the semi-finals and again came second to Hosszu while Russian Anastasiia (1:00:70) was third.
Coventry will be competing in the 100m and 200 backstroke when she makes her fifth appearance at the Olympics this year.
