Chitembwe Savours How Mine Victory

CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe says their win over How Mine last weekend will stand out as the most crucial victory with a bearing on them lifting the league title.

CAPS United scored in the last minute of optional time to reclaim the lead after How Mine had equalised with a minute to full time and the result meant Makepekepe maintain pressure on leaders FC Platinum and keep third placed Highlanders at bay going into the last five matches of the campaign.

“I am sure this is one result we will look back and say if we had not done what did that day, it could have gone otherwise. I am happy with the way we are applying ourselves in these matches. To have played five games and draw one shows the belief we have in the team,” said Chitembwe.

“The  players are showing tremendous character and fighting spirit, their body language on the field of play is that of champions in waiting and I am proud to work with such a group of players,” added Chitembwe.

CAPS United are chasing their first league title since 2005 and are in a three horse tussle with FC Platinum and resurgent Highlanders.

Chitembwe and leading marksman Leonard Tsipa were part of the team that last won the championship in over a decade.
