Chapungu Seek First Howmine Win

Chapungu are seeking their first ever victory over How Mine when the two sides clash in a Castle Lager league match at Luveve stadium on Saturday. The previous meetings between the two clubs have ended in stalemates.

Chapungu thought they were close to breaking the duck in the reverse fixture but Kuda Musharu scored with five minutes to the end canceling out an early strike from Allan Tavarwisa.

Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino believes their loss to ZPC Kariba, which was their first to the power utility team, will inspire them to victory over How Mine.

“We are still to win or lose to How Mine with all games ending in stalemates. But this has to come to an end. We had dominated ZPC Kariba but they broke the trend last weekend beating us at home,” said Nyikadzino.

“We take strength from ZPC Kariba and also the belief that anything is possible in football. We know we are facing a team that is very high on confidence but we are equally geared for the match.”

The game comes after the authorizes at Chapungu held a cocktail for the players on Wednesday night to pacify them after they had gone on a muted industrial action over non-payment of winning bonuses.

How Mine will be looking forward to their third consecutive victory which will see them put their campaign for a respectable finish back on track.

The gold miners were the first team to beat the rejuvenated Ngezi Platinum under Tonderai Ndiraya, winning the match 2-0 away at Baobab stadium.
