Captain Mbara Demands Concentration

DYNAMOS skipper Augustine Mbara believes players cannot wish away the pressure and the tension that comes with the big games like the Harare Derby.

Mbara yesterday said the Glamour Boys were paying attention to detail this week despite their dominance which has spanned six years without tasting a league defeat at the hands of their rivals CAPS United.

Dynamos have been struggling of late although their win over newboys Mutare City Rovers should provide the morale-booster needed by the players and coach Paulo Jorge Silva, who is sitting on a three-match ultimatum.

“When you play for Dynamos, pressure is always there, even when you play a Division Two team or a non-league side,” said Mbara.

“Even though we won that match in Mutare, we still have got pressure coming into the match against CAPS United because we are supposed to win that game.

“It’s going to be a different and difficult match for both teams because we haven’t met this year.

“I think we are going to do our best as a team and we would need to avoid unnecessary mistakes. We have to concentrate.”

Dynamos were under pressure to get results after going for five matches in all competitions without scoring a goal.

This has led to the technical team being given a target of nine points in three matches. So far they have cleared one hurdle after posting a 2-1 win in Mutare.

They now need to win again against CAPS United and Hwange for Portuguese coach Silva and his entire technical team to keep their jobs.

Mbara yesterday told reporters that the Harare giants were one happy family ahead of the blockbuster clash with Makepekepe as they look to maintain the bragging rights.

DeMbare are also likely to unleash Evans Gwekwerere, who makes a return to the Glamour Boys 10 years after shooting to stardom at the club after a short stint and then making the move to South Africa.

The Harare giants’ management were yesterday running around to put his papers in order after agreeing to a two-year deal. On the field, Mbara said everyone was busy on his schedule as they look to build on their win in Mutare to accelerate their momentum in the championship race.

“Right now everyone is working very hard and we are just looking forward to the match. We are very happy with our previous outing because we won and it’s a big boost to the guys. So we are just taking every match as it comes.

“The good thing is we don’t have injuries at the moment and I am just hoping that on Sunday everyone will give 100 percent.”

The win over CAPS United will help calm the tensions in the camp.

Mbara disputed claims that the players were sabotaging the team following that poor run of form while revealing he was also worried with the unfortunate turn of events early into the season.

“If I say I am not happy, I will be wrong. To outsiders it’s like we are failing.

“There are many things that are being said out there, like the players are sabotaging but there is nothing like that.

“We are just focusing on our work. So I am just encouraging my teammates that we concentrate more and avoid a lot of things being said outside.

“With the way we started the season, I can’t really say there was any problem which I can point out. It’s a game of football and there are three results to be expected. You never know with this game. The supporters must come on Sunday and give us all the support.

“They must know that we are working very hard for to get that win over CAPS United. On our side as players, we cannot get onto the field of play to lose because we know where we get our bread and butter.

“So we cannot afford to lose. We are trying our best as a team. So they must just come and keep on supporting us, things will be well,” said Mbara.
