Bring on Makepekepe

HOW MINE captain Tapuwa Khumbuyani (pictured) says they have to bounce back to winning ways after last week’s defeat to newboys Mutare City Rovers when they host CAPS United in a Castle Lager Premiership soccer match at Luveve on Saturday.

The roving right back is now skipper at the Bulawayo-based outfit and he said he will take this weekend’s game like any other match despite captaining the Harare giants for close to three years before he crossed the floor.

“I think we are geared up and we will take the game seriously. I am now at How Mine and I will play my heart out. Of course, it is a challenge to play against a side you led for close to three seasons, but life has to go on.

“We have been working hard and we have managed to recover from last weekend’s defeat (by Mutare City Rovers) and we have to reorganise so that we get a positive result against CAPS United.

“The boys were working hard in the past two days and we need to recover from last weekend’s result which I believe is possible.

“The good thing is we do not have much injury worries and everyone is looking forward to the game,” said Khumbuyani.

Chikurupati suffered their first defeat of the season to newcomers Mutare City Rovers last week when they fell 1-0 at Sakubva.

That win was the first for the Manicaland newboys and it was also the first time that the gold miners had suffered a reverse this season.

How Mine have been impressive both at Luveve and on the road and playing at home again this weekend could help Kelvin Kaindu’s men find their touch again.

The respected Zambian coach said he is ready for Makepekepe, but insisted they have respect for the log leaders.

“It is always difficult to play these big teams and I am looking forward to the match. The boys are working hard and we are expecting a tough encounter, but it is encouraging to play at home.

“CAPS United have been playing well since the season began and we will not underrate them, but take them seriously. They have hit a good patch in recent weeks which will make us become more concentrated.

“I will miss the services of Praise Tonha who was injured, but I managed to do without him last week in Mutare so it will be the same story,” said Kaindu.

Tonha was injured during the Week Three assignment against ZPC Kariba at home where they won 2-0.

Chikurupati first drew 2-2 with Bulawayo City before they beat ZPC Kariba 2-0 at home and they went on to draw with Joey Antipas’ Chicken Inn 0-0.

Before last weekend’s defeat, Kaindu had also faced his former paymasters Triangle where he came out with a comfortable 2-0 victory.

With CAPS United unbeaten in six starts, How Mine are aware they have a tough task for them on Saturday.
