TWELVE horses will participate at this year’s edition of the Castle Tankard, according to the final acceptances on Monday.
The prestigious race is on beginning of May – with the likes of Mathematician, Cool Solution, Rock the Country, Lava Flow and Ashton Park all in the thick of things.
Mashonaland Turf club general manager Munyaradzi Nyandoro says the number has dropped as a result of shortage of breeders in the country.
 “This year we have a few horses than what we used to have. It’s all because we don’t have enough horse breeders in this country. We need more breeders, more owners to support horse racing in this country. We only have four trainers this year but last year we had six breeders,” he said.
He added: “For the first time ever, consumers of castle lager will participate in a promotion named the Castle Tankard Experience and get a chance to win 1 of 20 Castle Tankard Experience packages valued at $1000 each for them and their partners.
