At a time Zimbabwe Cricket is coach-hunting, another Zimbabwean born cricketer, Graeme Hick has been appointed the Australian cricket team batting coach.

Hick, 5O, will be in charge of the Aussies batting on a four-year deal.

Born in Harare, Hick went on to play for England in 65 Tests and 120 one-day internationals for between 1991 and 2001.

He scored 3,383 runs at 31.32, with six centuries and a highest score of 178, he made
against India in Mumbai in February 1993.

Many Zimbabwean born cricketers have deserted the country going on to record success with other nations.

The list includes Andy Flower, currently with the England Lions, who led England to test number one and the 2010 ICC T20 World Cup.

Andy's brother, Grant, is the current batting coach of the number one ranked test team, Pakistan.

Duncan Fletcher has also enjoyed success with the English cricket with the major highlight being the first coach of the English team to win an Ashes series for 18 years when England secured 2-1 victory over Australia in 2005.

Zimbabwe Cricket, who fired Dav Whatmore in May, has remained mum on who has applied for the job despite setting September 9 as the deadline for the coaching post applicants.
