Windies U19 For Peterhouse
PETERHOUSE Boys School in Marondera will host the second Youth One Day International cricket match between Zimbabwe and the West Indies Under-19 sides later this month.
West Indies, the Under-19 World Champions, are scheduled to play three YODI’s in Zimbabwe on July 23, 26 and 29.
The first and third YODI’s will be played at Harare Sports Club while the second game has been slated for Peterhouse Boys Schools.
Zimbabwe Cricket Head Cricket Affairs, Givemore Makoni, told H-Metro that the decision to schedule a youth international match at Peterhouse is in line with their development vision meant to service Mashonaland East Province.
“We have three games, two will be in Harare and one at Peterhouse. Peterhouse requested to host one of the games.
“It’s an Under-19 game to be played at a school so it also gives exposure and experience to the boys in Mashonaland East,” he said.
This is not the first time though that a local school has hosted Under-19 international games as St. George’s and St. John’s Colleges staged the series between Zimbabwe and Pakistan in 2009.
Meanwhile, the touring West Indies Under-19 squad are set to commence their tour of Africa with a five-match series against South Africa from July 9-19.
