Taylor and Jarvis recently returned committed to playing for Zimbabwe after spending a number of years playing county cricket in England. It is without a doubt that Taylor will slot into Zimbabwe’s top order for the longer version series while Jarvis is certain to be given the responsibility of sharing the new ball with Christopher Mpofu and Michael Chinouya.

All-rounder Solomon Mire, as well as wicketkeeper Nyasha Mayavo, are the uncapped players named in the squad.

With Regis Chakabva and Mayavo named as the two wicketkeepers in the squad, the latter could make his international debut if national team coach Heath Streak deems the Midlands Rhinos player to be the better man behind the stumps.

From the team which played Zimbabwe’s last Test match away to Sri Lanka in July, top order batsman Tarisai Musakanda and seamer Donald Tiripano have been overlooked for selection.

The first Test between Zimbabwe and West Indies starts on Saturday while the second gets underway on 28 October.

Meanwhile, the three-day match between Zimbabwe A and West Indies ended in a draw at Bulawayo Athletic Club on Tuesday.

West Indies made 336 in their first innings and 263 in their second, with both innings declared. This left Zimbabwe A, with 143 in their first innings requiring 457 runs to win the match. Zimbabwe A were on 70 for four in 27 overs before both captains decided to end the match, as there was no hope of any of the two teams winning.

Zimbabwe squad: Graeme Cremer (captain), Hamilton Masakadza, Solomon Mire, Chamunorwa Chibhabha, Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor, Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams, Malcolm Waller, Peter Moor, Regis Chakabva (wicketkeeper), Michael Chinouya, Chris Mpofu, Kyle Jarvis, Tendai Chisoro, Nyasha Mayavo(wicketkeeper)
