TATENDA TAIBU, the Zimbabwe Cricket convener of selectors and founder of Rising Stars Academy, has criticized the organisation’s administration of the game in the past 12 years.

Taibu took to twitter to pour his heart out.

He blasted ZC’s administration of the game since 2005 –a period that has seen the collapse of developmental programmes, non-maintenance of facilities and creation and accumulation of debts with the major one standing at US$19 million as of August 2017.

The former captain tweeted:

“Achievements since we took over ZC in 2005. 1. Scholarship program dead. 2. grounds abandoned. 3. huge debts. 4. loss of passionate employees. Truth”

The majority of the black cricketers came to prominence through ZC’s scholarship fund that was known for developing potentially talented young players from high density areas taking them to top schools like Churchill School and Prince Edward.

This is the same programme that groomed Taibu, Hamilton Masakadza, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Elton Chigumbura, Prosper Utseya and Vusi Sibanda to mention just a few.

However, Taibu claims this scholarship programme vanished during a time there was change of leadership to the game’s administration in the mid-2000’s seemingly as black administrators assumed office replacing the whites.

Taibu’s tweet opened up a flurry of responses from followers with some supporting the former captain by attacking the ZC’s ways of administration while some hinted on racism on the former’s part.

“Don't get me wrong, I love my black brothers and sisters, however, most who I have worked with will make it diff (sic) just to do the right thing,” he tweeted.

Taibu is perturbed by the state of affairs in the organisation, lack of commitment to work by some employees and poor state of grounds that haven’t been upgraded possibly since Zimbabwe’s co-hosting of the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Although some of the twitter responses pointed fingers to Ozias Bvute’s reign as the time when game began nosediving, Taibu is still convinced that a lot of people operating in the organisation are ‘doing nothing’.

“How long has Bvute and co. been away? We still have some lazy pple (sic) just blaming and doing nothing in the mean time,” he tweeted.
