Sizzling Rams

Sizzling St John's have continued on their irreversible path to junior cricket glory proving the T20 tournament they won last month was not enough for their cabinet.

There was hardly any challenge posed to the Rams as they hosted the St John's Junior T20 Cricket Festival which drew six top titans of bat and ball, including themselves, last month.

St John's Under-16 side raised no sweat in classically dismissing over their rivals such as St George's, Falcon, Prince Edward, Peterhouse and Churchill.

Peterhouse tried to offer some resistance and duly reached the final of the round-robin event but were no match for the Rams who easily won by all of four wickets.

To show that their conquest was not accidentally attained, St John's last week repeated their dominance over Churchill in a league fixture at the same venue.

Churchill won the toss and elected to bat but they were 109 all out by lunch. St John's College  in their innings made a total of 110 for the loss of two wickets, of which Sprake clocked 62* not out.

The hosts won the match by 8 wickets.

A splendid afternoon was confirmed for the Rams after their Under-14A also came through victors over Churchill by 88 runs. St John's made 155/2 courtesy of Welch 73 and Gibbs 50*.

Churchill were 67 all out falling to a wizard performance by Kristiansen who knocked five wickets from 20 balls, including a hat trick.

Victory in the younger age group for St John's atoned for the bleach at their T20 tournament when the Rams let rivals St George's go home with both the competition's U15 and U14 titles.
