UNITED States based professional golfer Scott Vincent was the only local player to progress up to the last round of the J’oburg Open at the weekend.

Vincent who made the cut on Saturday managed to finish the tournament at position 68 at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington.

The former Virginia Tech student had three rounds of 70, 69 and 71 to finish the tournament on five-under 210.

Playing at the European Tour sanctioned Sunshine Tour tournament together with Mark Williams and Marc Cayeux it was Vincent who managed to earn money for the event that was slightly disturbed by the rains.

For his effort the former Chapman player pocketed R27 631.

Several locals including Greg Bentley, Mohammad Rauf Mandhu and Brian Gondo were in the tournament but failed to progress through the pre-qualifiers.
