Rusere Off To Women’s WC

ZIMBABWE Cricket might have missed qualification to the International Cricket Council Women’s World Cup 2017 but they will find solace in having umpire Langton Rusere officiating at the tourney.

Rusere, of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires, has been selected to officiate at the 11th edition of the tournament starting this Saturday and running until July 23.

This will be Rusere’s maiden Women’s World Cup but second global showcase having been at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh.

Rusere has umpired four One Day Internationals and five T20 Internationals of Zimbabwe’s home matches.

Of the 13 umpires set for the Women’s World Cup, there will be four female umpires in Kathy Cross, Claire Polosak, Sue Redfern and Jacqueline Williams.

Meanwhile, Rusere will be the second Zimbabwe to be involved with a global tournament in England this month after match referee Andy Pycroft took part in the Champions Trophy which ended on Sunday.
