
Phiri Wins Elephant Hills Open
Veteran golfer Josephat Phiri playing off four handcap won the 2016 Elephant Hills Open held in Victoria Falls last weekend.
The event had players from all the three divisions and Finlay Kegan was runner-up in the event that is on the Zimbabwe Golf Association calendar.
Phiri carded 80, 79, 73 and for a 232 gross score after 54 holes while Kegan had rounds of 83, 73 and 82 for a total 238 to bag 25 points from the tournament.
Tafara Mpofu was third playing off scratch handicap had good rounds 80, 86 and 87 for overall gross score of 253.
The championship division saw Liberty Gumisa coming fourth as Pascal Sibanda completed the top five.
The A Division saw Clever Denga coming on as the winner as Emmanuel Nyasulu was second playing off 13 handicap.
Amos Lungu was third with Tees Makore on fourth while Sanjay Bhukan completed the top five.
Clarence Tengende off 19 handicap was the B Division champion as Maviko Dube finished second the C Division saw Francis Maseko first on the podium while Israel Rupiya was second.
The event also saw 17 top participating in the tournament.
