M’shangwe In Zim Test Squad
MANICALAND Mountaineers leg spinner Natsai M’shangwe has been added to the Zimbabwe Cricket Test squad for the one-off Test against Sri Lanka next month.
Zimbabwe will begin their Sri Lankan tour with a five-match One Day International series with matches slated for June 30, July 2, 6, 8 and 10th.
The solitary Test match starts on July 14.
M’shangwe earned a recall to the national Test squad after a brilliant Logan Cup campaign in which he ended the 2016-17 season as the top wicket-taker with 24 wickets.
“It feels good, I was just focusing on finishing on top. That was my goal and it went according to plan,” M’shangwe told Sportszone.co.zw.
M’shangwe, with two Tests and seven wickets against Bangladesh, had last been in national team colours in 2014 and his individual brilliance has put him in frame for selection once again.
“I am feeling honoured to be selected in the national team. I am looking forward to performing well when I get the chance and make that election count,” he said.
Last week, M’shangwe was part of the camp in build up to Zimbabwe’s tours of Scotland and The Netherlands. He is expected to join the Test squad next month in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe ODI squad conducted its first training session yesterday in Edinburgh ahead of their two-match series against Scotland set for Thiursday and Saturday at The Grange Cricket Club Ground.
