
Milanzi wins Hwange Open
COUNTRYCLUB’s Never Milanzi was crowned the 2016 Hwange Open after he beat 19 other contenders in an event held last weekend at Hwange Golf Club.
Milanzi formerly of Falcon in Hatfield is now playing off one handicap and said he was happy to take his first ever amateur honours.
“I am happy for the win and it encourages me to continue to work hard and I look forward to other events.
“My aim is to break into the national team and represent the country for the better part of next year before I think of turning professional.
“My game is improving so much and I just thank everyone who supports me,” said Milanzi.
Milanzi carded 78, 75 and 78 for a total 231 beating runner-up Josephat Phiri by four shots.
Phiri playing off five handicap had scores of 78, 76 and 69 as Liberty Gumisa came third.
Michael Phiri and Pascal Sibanda completed the top five.
