Mash Eagles Out To Break Records
Mashonaland Eagles coach Stanley Timoni has declared that the Harare cricket side will break records again by defending their three domestic cricket trophies.
The Eagles are current holders of the Logan Cup, Pro 50 Championship and the T20 Competition title.
They are the only team to achieve such a feat in the history of the Zimbabwe Domestic League.
“Yes, 100 percent we are going to defend our trophies,” declared Timoni.
“For us to defend the three trophies we need to make sure we get things right.”
Reports say the domestic league could start in October and the Eagles are already in their second week of pre-season training.
They played three T20 matches against the Zimbabwe Emerging side that has reached the semi-finals of the Africa T20 Cup being played in South Africa.
“We are champions and the biggest province in the country, we need to prepare ourselves in advance,” Timoni said.
“We are making sure we work on all the three departments of the game. We don’t want to wait for the last minute.
“Last season we started in advance and that brought us results.”
Timoni is known as Mr 100 percent’ by his players after the team’s unbeaten run in the Pro 50 Championship.
“We need to make sure that we polish our players, remember we are coming from off season, there is no way we are going to prepare in two weeks.
“We need about six weeks that’s why we have started preparing before everyone,” he said.
Timoni was also satisfied with the team’s showing during the practice matches against the Zimbabwe Emerging side.
“We have got a few new comers, upcoming youngsters who did very well. There is (Bezel) Njanji, (Kudzai) Maunze, he played last season , but he has been playing well in these games, and other guys there are about six of them.
“I believe in rewarding performance, I don’t favor faces or individuals, but I favor performances. If you perform you should be rewarded.
