Kwese TV Signs Australia Cricket Deal

It’s now official Internet-delivered TV is real.

Once called an ‘experiment’ by prophesying analysts in the past, live streaming TV has taken the attention of a wide audience.

Econet is seeing something that most Mobile Networks Operates are not seeing and that online streaming is the way to go.

Online streaming makes it possible to watch everything from live news and sports to classic movies to modern TV favourites on your own time, and on any device you choose.

Since Econet has Zero Rated the Service It is more likely to be taken up by most Zimbabweans.

Econet through its Econet Media has signed a deal with Cricket Australia. Under the five-year partnership, Kwese Sportwill be broadcast Australia international men’s and women’s cricket as well as the KFC Big Bash League (BBL) and Rebel Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) across the Sub-Saharan Africa regions. This partnership will cover 2016/17 season.

According to CEO of Econet Media, Joseph Hundah, said: “The partnership with Cricket Australia is a continuation of our commitment to bring great quality content to our audiences in Africa. This content offering will appeal to all our audiences and provide variety as diverse as our beautiful continent.

“Cricket is loved in Eastern and Southern Africa and we wanted to ensure that our audience in these markets will have an opportunity to enjoy the best action available.

“We are also excited about the opportunity to expose the sport to new audiences within those and other markets.”

It is the first time that Cricket Australia has signed a deal to cover the African territory. Cricket Australia has also retained some non-exclusive digital rights which will subscribers also having access to live stream Australian cricket content via cricket.com.au and the CA Live App.

 

As for Kwese sport they have signed deal with English Premier League Football for 50 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa as well as the US National Basketball Association (NBA).
