
Jongwe Back In The Nets
All-rounder Luke Jongwe who was hit by the ball in the emirate of Sharjah while preparing for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament which was hosted by India is back in the nets.
Jongwe is part of Zimbabwe senior men’s squad that on Friday took a break from preparations of their forthcoming tour by India and will re-group on Wednesday.
Zimbabwe will host India from the June 8 - 23, for a tour that will have three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 International matches.
The first ODI match is on the 11th, the second on the 13th and the third on the 15th. The Twenty20 International matches are on the 18th, 20th and 22nd.
The squad was doing fitness sessions in the first couple of weeks of thier preparations and then from two weeks ago started working on fielding and batting skills.
They then had three 50-over practice matches starting last Friday before taking the break.
“Spin bowler Graeme Cremer, who is recovering from a left hand fracture, has also made what senior national team physiotherapist Anesu Mupotaringa described as “very good progress”.
“It is now four weeks since his cast was removed and Cremer is now able to bowl an average of eight overs during a 90-minute session with minimum discomfort, and now working on his fielding. He also played in the practice games,” read a statement from ZC.
Pace bowler Tinashe Panyangara who had a lower backache complaint also came through the last two practice matches.
Prior to the practice matches, batsman Chamunorwa Chibhabha was hit on the left arm during a net session, complaining of excruciating pain and struggled with wrist movement but an x-ray ruled out fracture.
