India Bash Zimbabwe To Level Series
India post a 10 wicket win (with 41 balls remaining) over Zimbabwe to level the three game series. This is also the first time they have won by such a margin in the T20.
The opening duo of Singh - with an unbeaten 52 off 40 with six fours and a six - and Rahul 47 off 40 with two fours and two sixes, did all the work for the tourists as India were 103-0 after 13.1 overs in reply to Zimbabwe's 99-9.
Winning the toss, Zimbabwe elected to bat first
Supported by an early good bowling performance, the century stand between the two gave India an important victory which will see both sides fighting for the all important win on Wednesday in the third and final T20 at the same venue.
After 20 overs Zimbabwe were 99-9 and it pretty much looked an easy target for India who needed a 100 a win to level the series. An early crumble by the Zimbabwe top order after Sran ripped through early.
Sran finished with figures of 4-10 in his four overs and he was helped by the attack of Bumrah who latter in the innigs came in with a helpful 3-11 in his four.
Chibhabha was the first to go and left Zimbabwe on 14-1, before Masakadza, Raza and Mutombodzi walked back to the pavilion in the fifth over off the bowling of Sran.
This made Sran only the second Indian to take two wickets in a single over in this format of the game. PJ Moore's stand of 31 off 32 with two fours and a six was the only nottable contributon from the Zimbabwe batting line-up.
The only other double figures came from Chibhabha, Masakadza, Waller and Tiripano but none of them were above 15 runs before India made light work of Zimbabwe.
