Domestic Cricket Is Finally Back

After weeks of delays and drama, the domestic cricket season is finally starting next week.

Zimbabwe Cricket Media and Communications manager Darlington Majonga confirmed the commencement of season.

“Please be advised Logan Cup action resumes this coming Tuesday,” said Majonga in a statement.

The domestic season also features the Zimbabwe Premier League, a national clubs competition which will be resuming from the rounds played last year.

“In the meantime ZPL fixtures continue this Saturday” continued Majonga.

Local players staged a protest against Zimbabwe Cricket over unpaid dues resulting in the abandonment of the match between Matabeleland Tuskers and Midwest Rhinos in Bulawayo in December.

It was another setback to the season that had been delayed as ZC shifted commencement dates three times.

But the payment issue has been resolved  and defending champions Mashonaland Eagles will face Rhinos in Harare on Tuesday while Manicaland Mountaineers hosts Tuskers in Mutare.
