Three Zimbabwe amateur golfers – Sean Crocker, Benjamin Follet-Smith and David Amm – are set to take part at the World Amateur Team Golf Championships.
Held after every two years the tournament – also known as the Eisenhower Trophy – wil this year be hosted by Mexico.
Crocker was in fine form over the weekend, finishing third at the 55th Northeast Amateur Invitational Golf Tournament and he made the Zimbabwe team as Zimbabwe Golf Association selectors’ choice having missing the local qualifying tournaments due to his commitments in the US.
Nineteen-year-old Crocker, is on a golf scholarship at the University of Southern California.
The Zimbabwean was part of the field that took part in the four day event at Wannamoisett Country Club secluded in the heart of Rumford, Rhode Island.
The youngster carded impressive rounds of 69, 67, 65 and 70 for a total 271 five-under to tie with United States’ Patrick Martin as Fred Wedel won the event with a stroke on 270.
