Spinner Graeme Cremer looks set to become the Chevrons limited overs skipper amid claims Zimbabwe Cricket are mulling a dual captaincy.

Sources said Cremer was earmarked to take the captaincy of limited overs cricket while Hamilton Masakadza continued to lead in Tests.

Although ZC officials are tight-lipped on the issue, Cremer admitted talk of sharing the captaincy duties with Masakadza has also reached his ears.

“I have heard there have been talks about it,” he conceded. “I would be honored to lead the country, it’s been a dream of mine and it’s something I won’t take lightly. Hopefully if it does happen I can share the pressures with Hamilton, as it is a tough task. Let’s wait and see,” he said.

The 29-year old is itching to bounce back into action after missing the World T20 with a wrist injury.

Cremer said he was gutted to miss out on the World T20 after he broke his wrist while batting against West Indies in a warm-up match.

“It is always tough getting injured, but the timing just before the World Cup was devastating for me. It does take a toll emotionally but you also have to understand it’s part of the game.

“As I have had major injuries in the past, I find I deal with injuries and set -backs a lot better now. Rehab is going ok, I have regained full wrist mobility and now it’s all about getting the strength back in the arm,” he said.

Next month’s series against India marks the beginning of a crucial period for the Chevrons and Cremer wants to be in the mix right from the word go.

“I am feeling confident enough to start training again and getting ready for India,” he said.

“I was really happy with the 2015 season and now I am even more eager to get back and do well after coming back from injury,” said Cremer, who last year took 18 wickets in 15 matches.

Zimbabwe is also expected to host New Zealand, the West Indies and Sri Lanka this year.

“It’s always good to have many games, it keeps the cob webs out and you get into a good rhythm of playing,” said Cremer.

“Obviously when we fail everyone points fingers at the senior guys which is right. We as a group need to put in some match winning performances and carry the team across the line.

The pressure is high but we have the talent and experience to win games,” Cremer said.
