Andy Flower To Coach World XI

Former Zimbabwe Cricket Captain Andy Flower has been appointed by ICC to select and coach a World XI team which will to tour Pakistan next month for a three-match Twenty20 International series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The series is an attempt to build on the successful hosting of the Pakistan Super League final in March.

Pakistan have not hosted any international cricket since a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009 and consequently played all their home games at neutral venues.

Following the conclusion of their annual meeting in June, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said it had agreed to support a T20I series between Pakistan and a World XI in a bid to help revive international cricket in the country.

“The ICC handed over the responsibility to Andy Flower to pick the 15 best players for the World XI squad,” Dawn quoted a Pakistan Cricket Board official as saying.

“The ICC will make a final decision on the selection of the squad.”
