Rujeko Finally Lift Copa Coca-Cola Title

GWANDA - Rujeko Secondary School made history yesterday when they finally lifted the Copa Coca-Cola Under-17 trophy after several years of asking and at times finishing second best.

The team from Glendale played a goalless draw but managed to send Mashonaland West’s Chinhoyi High packing following penalties which they won 4-2.

Brendo Mushore, Mclean Ruvafu, Nelson Nyanamira and Rangarirai Dzawo scored for Rujeko with goalkeeper Tanaka Mujaji, the hero of Rujeko saving two spot kicks.

Rujeko last year lost to Dewure in final of the same tournament.

“It was Gods favour. It’s an opportunity to market our team to market pour team because we have talent and we hope that very soon premiership teams will come knocking.

“Last year we were dejected in Bulawayo after losing to Dewure and I felt pity for my students as they cried unconrtrably after losing.

“The cup belongs to the community of Glendale and Mashonaland Central who has been behind us in good and bad times. We are overwhelmed as a school and my boys were just awesome,” said Whitney Mabika the female headmistress of the school who shed tears of joy following the victory.
