Ndoro, Rusike Doubtful For Zambia Friendly
THE South African based striking duo of Tendai Ndoro and Evans Rusike are doubtful for Sunday’s friendly between Zimbabwe and Zambia at the National Sports.
The Orlando Pirates and Maritzburg United strikers were the only foreign based strikers in interim coach Norman Mapeza’s 23 men squad to face Chipolopolo but their availability is now in doubt after Zifa sent their invites late.
“There are issues with Ndoro and Evans (Rusike) because their clubs were notified late so they can choose to say no we are not releasing the players,” said Warriors interim manager Wellington Mpandare.
“We also have a set back with Teenage Hadebe who is injured and has been ruled out of the tie,” he said.
Mapeza is however hopeful Ndoro and Rusike will arrive in time for the friendly but will be left with no option but to call for replacements if they don’t pitch up.
“Obviously we will consider replacing them if they don’t come,” said Mapeza.
Also yet to report for camp is the Highlanders duo of veteran goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda and young striker Prince Dube but the two are expected to join their colleagues on Friday morning.
