Harare City Coach Faces The Axe
HARARE CITY football club will convene an emergency meeting expected to seal the fate of coach Mike Madzivanyika should the Sunshine Boys fail to beat Highlanders at the National Sports Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
City have a single win in seven matches and are fourth from bottom ahead of their match against Bosso which kicks off at 3PM Zimbabwean time.
Despite having some of the best players in the league today, Harare City have been struggling and the executive is expected to ring changes in the technical team should the team lose against Bosso.
The Harare City cast includes Martin Vengesayi, Protasho Kabwe, Farai Madhanaga, Tendai Samanja, James Jam, Tatenda Tumba, Takudzwa Chimwemwe, Honey Chimutimunzeve and keeper Maxwell Nyamupanedengu.
Rising striker Jerry Chipangura, speedy forward Grey Kufandada and Jimmy Tigere are also at City.
City coach Mike Madzivanyika is a man under pressure and sources close the club say he is aware the axe is hovering.
“The team’s executive has already begun planning for life without Mike (Madzivanyika) who now looks set to be redeployed elsewhere within the club,” said a source.
Alois Masepe heads an executive team that also has Stanley Ndemera as vice chairman and Mathew Marara as the secretary general.
Although it is still unclear who City are targeting, former Warriors coach Kallisto Pasuwa remains a choice while former Caps United expatriate gaffer Mark Harrison has also surfaced as a possible candidate.
