Zim defender Chipeta Promises More Wonder Goals
Former Zimbabwe national team and Ajax Cape Town defender Erick Chipeta is confident that he has more stunning goals in his locker after scooping Goal of the Season at the club's awards.
The 26-year-old netted an absolute pearler of a free-kick in a 2-1 defeat to Bidvest Wits last year and was acknowledged for his effort at Saturday's event.
Chipeta, a former Hwange player back in Zimbabwe, admits that the goal he scored was a positive moment for him during an otherwise poor season in which he only made four league starts.
“I will keep on pushing and hopefully next season I can help the team reach even greater heights," Chipeta was reported by Kick Off telling his club’s website.
“In modern football, the likes of Sergio Ramos and so on, you have to chip in with goals as defenders.
“Thulani Hlatshwayo of Bidvest Wits is another good example; he scores goals. You have to contribute in that regard to help your team.
“It was not my first free-kick goal, I scored for Chippa United and it is something I have in my arsenal, I can take free-kicks and yes it wasn’t a first for me and hopefully not the last.”
