Zim Coaching Instructors Hailed

Zimbabwe has some of the most experienced football coaching instructors on the continent and the nation’s game will rise if the football association invests in qualified personnel, a top CAF instructor has said.

CAF instructor and assessor Frans Mogashoa of South Africa believes Nigel Matongorere, Taurai Mangwiro and Gibson Homela are some of the best instructors.

Mogashoa was in the country working with the trio during the CAF A course that ended in the capital Harare last Friday.

The graduates, among them Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe, were presented with CAF A coaching certificates at the ZIFA Village on Monday.

“Zimbabwe is one of the countries with lots of experienced instructors, Nelson (Matongorere), Gibson (Homela) and Taurai (Mangwiro), himself the technical director, you can see that they did a lot of work,” Mogashoa said at the presentation ceremony.

“And the willingness to learn by the coaches themselves was a plus factor because in the past we had people who wanted to coach but they had no coaching courses,” he said.

Under the new CAF club licensing rules, all Premier Soccer League coaches are now required to have at least a CAF A coaching certificate.

Amini Soma Phiri (Highlanders), Kifton Kadurira (Ngezi Platinum), radio personality Spencer Banda and Chitembwe were some of the participants.
