Zim, Barcelona Legends Play To A 2-2 draw

Former Zimbabwe Warriors forwards Zenzo Moyo and Edward Sadomba scored audacious second-half goals each as yesteryear Zimbabwe players and Ex Barcelona players of the years gone by played out a 2-2 draw in front of appreciative fans at a near-capacity filled National Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Patrick Kluivert who spent six years with Spanish club Barcelona between 1998 and 2004 scored two quick first-half headed goals in a space of three minutes as the Ex Barcelona stars surged ahead in half that saw the Zimbabwe Legends end with no shot on target.

Despite knocking the ball around well, the only highlight in front of goal came from Madinda Ndlovu whose ferocious shot went over.

The second half was a bit different for Zimbabwe as they brought in a completely different team that was full of energy and zeal going forward. Johannes Ngodzo was denied by the left upright as Zimbabwe looked for a way back into the game.

Ronald Sibanda turned back the hands of time with a dazzling performance in the middle of the park and his vision was always a problem for the yesteryear Barcelona players. Zenzo Moyo defied his burly figure as he scored a stunning overhead kick as Zimbabwe piled on the pressure midway through the second stanza.

PHD leader Prophet Walter Magaya also had a run late in the second half and he dazzled the crowd with some good runs and his long-range passing. One of his passes found Edward Sadomba on the far side and he drilled his shot home from a difficult angle to level the scores for Zimbabwe.

The legends match attracted a huge crowd among them Vice President of Zimbabwe Phelekezela Mphoko who was the guest of honour, senior government officials comprising Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Makhosini Hlongwane, Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs Cde Miriam Chikukwa, Minister of Tourism, Hospitality Industry and Environment Cde Edgar Mbwembwe, Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Mike Bimha and Deputy Minister of Tourism Cde Anastancia Ndlovu among others.
