ZIFA Terminates Pasuwa’s Contract
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has terminated Warriors Coach Kalisto Pawusa’s contract.
A letter signed by acting ZIFA CEO Joseph Mamutse cited recommendations made by the High Performance Committee which met last Friday deliberating on performance of all national football teams in the year 2016.
The committe strongly recommended that the board should not renew the Pasuwa’s contract mentioning Warriors’ results at the 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup in Namibia, the 2015 African Nations Championships in Rwanda and the Nations Cup finals in Gabon as a basis to support their argument that Pasuwa had failed to take the national team to another level.
Pasuwa had signed a two-year performance-based contract with ZIFA which was subject to review after the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
The gaffer is alleged to have announced that he was resigning a day after the Warriors bowed out of the 2017 Africa Cup of nations in Gabon, allegations which he dismissed as false.
ZIFA’s position finally brings to end an impasse that had ensued over the coach’s position for over a week after the Warriorrs return from the AFCON tournament.
