ZIFA Gets Gvt Greenlight To Bid For AFCON Tournaments Hosting

Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) president, Philip Chiyangwa, says his association is planning to bid to host CAF competitions in the near future.

Speaking at the Warriors training session at Prophet Walter Magaya’s PHD ministry complex in Waterfalls, Chiyangwa said they have been given a green light to bid for African football competitions hosting from 2021 by the government through the Ministry of Sport and Recreation.

Chiyangwa, who is also the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) president, however, said there was need to upgrade stadia in the country so that they meet international standards.

He said even the National Sports Stadium needed some refurbishment to make it a modern stadium.
