ZIFA Courts Three Countries

Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has courted three countries for international friendly matches as part of the Mighty Warriors’ preparations for the 12th edition of the Total Women’s African Nations Championship finals set for Cameroon next month.

The association’s communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said they have written request letters to Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya and remain hopeful that two of the countries would accede to their request.

“Letters have already been dispatched to the three countries and our hope is that at least two of them agree but if all accede, the better for the girls,” said Gwesela.

Gwesela said plans were also in place for the girls to have a friendly match in Cameroon just before the tournament roars into life.

Tentatively, according to the association spokesperson, the Mighty Warriors are expected to fly out to Yaounde on November 12 or the following day and will have a week to acclimatize before their first game at the jamboree in Group A against fellow neighbours South Africa on November 19.
