Zekumbawire Scores PSL 200th Goal Of The Season As Harare City And Chicken Inn Share Spoils
Harare City striker Francisco Zekumbawire scored the 200th goal of the season as Harare City were held to a 1-1 draw by Chicken Inn. The former Hwange and Dynamos forward scored in the 50th minute just a shade sixty seconds faster that Mostafa Ponyera who scored a brace in Tsholotsho's 3-0 victory over inconsistent Hwange.
Zekumbawire who has been struggling in front of goal this season finished off a rebound with a header after Chicken Inn keeper Elvis Chipezeze had parried back into play a cross from Ronald Chitiyo on the far side. The Sunshine Boys could not protect the lead as Pride Tafirenyika equalised seventeen minutes from time.
Elsewhere, Mostafa Ponyera was in superb form scoring a brace leading his side to a comfortable victory. Ponyera who could have capped the afternoon in style by scoring the 200th goal had he been a minute faster than Zekumbawire,, got on to the scoresheet on the 51st minute and later on the 75th with a beautiful rising shot. Former Gweru United player Blessing Sibanda put the icing on the cake with the third goal.
Tonderai Ndiraya’s purple patch in charge of Ngezi Platinum continued on Saturday afternoon as his side beat Triangle 2-1. The win lifted Ngezi into the mid table, a remarkable feet since Ndiraya took over.
